Description

Would you like to simplify your paint palette?

Learn to mix and blend colours for flesh tones?

And combine collage techniques?

This exciting workshop is run by artists Jane Kanizay and Anahita Diba, who are currently exhibiting ‘Elements of Nature’ with us as part of our Face2Face project.

Come and create with them and learn about mixing colours, blending paint and working with collage.

Jane will introduce you to the Zorn palette; attributed to Swedish artist Anders Zorn (1860 – 1920). Which consists of just 4 colours being yellow ochre, ivory black, cadmium red light and titanium white.

Why Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red Light and Ivory Black? They are an earthy version of the primary colours Yellow, Red and Blue but mix to an endless palette of beautiful flesh tones.

By the end of this workshop, you will have painted a face using acrylic paint and learnt to build a palette that can be used to paint a portrait of anyone. This workshop will also allow you to incorporate collage techniques, through demonstrations by artist Anahita Diba.

These skills and palette can be used for most painting from still life to landscapes.

Jane will introduce the four concepts of painting; shape, value, colour and edges as you mix flesh tones and use a template to colour a portrait. Anahita will demonstrate blending paint to create realistic shapes with curves and edges, incorporating collage.

Come and paint with us!

This was a great workshop and I learned a lot about blending and creating colours. My main beef was that it was too short! It would be terrific if it ran for 3 hours with a short break to discuss eac others work (and get a coffee from the lovely cafe out the back).

Thank you for your feedback Kate. We appreciate your honesty and will certainly bear this in mind for our future workshops. This was the artists first time teaching together and first time back using the space for workshops. Great to have your suggestions, we'll certainly take them onboard. Thank you for coming and joining us at Space2b.
